Its a sheer joy to watch Praveen Kumar operate. Street smart cricketer with ability to move ball in either ways; superb exponent of swing bowling - perhaps even better than last real swing bowler of note from India Manoj Prabhakar.
Test cricket is laden with fast bowlers who can seam the ball but except for Dale Steyn and Praveen Kumar. Ofcourse there is small matter of 25 Kms difference in speed between both of them. By far Praveen Kumar is the most underestimated bowler in world cricket today
In Zaheer, Ishant & Praveen we have a very good bowling combination to counter the much hyped up English team. Needless to say I suspect Chris Tremlett is going to play his last test series. Shaun Tait was the last time a bowler talked himself up and said Indians are afraid of pace and needless to say he has not played even one test since Perth test.
Biggest problem for India is bowling of Harbhajan Singh. Bhajji has been going thro a tough time for past few years and he clearly has lost his doosra. Without doosra, he has become a very predictabel bowler and is continously outboweld by opposition spin bowlers. We may need to play Amit Mishra ahead of Bhajji. Think only Bhajji's batting is potentially keeping him in the test side.
Dhoni's batting is another matter of concern. He is stuggling to find right balance between attack and defense. One hopes his heroics in Lords in 2006 test series will inspire him to great deeds in coming series
On another note, its very nice to see India flex its muscles in world cricket. Think we have been too subservient for too long and its pay back time. ICC should be renamed India Cricket Council !
